contract 2003 to 2005
PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT AND ADVANCED REGISTERED NURSE PRACTITIONER
Please note that there has been some changes as of June 5, 2003.
After discussion at labor-management meetings, and questions from SEIU regarding the total sum allocated for market adjustments, the hospital administration agreed to increase the amount of money spent for physician assistant and ARNPs. We were not able to change the table, but the hospital agreed to add $400 to every PA and ARNP base salary.
July 2003
There are 2 ways to figure out salaries for this year. You will receive whichever is greater. To calculate your salary as of July 2003, you will need to know:
your current base salary
your years of experience if you have 20 or less years of experience as a PA or ARNP, at UIHC and/or in other settings
all salaries in tables are for 100%, if you work part-time, you will need to change the numbers according to your percentage
Step 1
Take your current base salary and add 4%
Step 2
If you have 20 years or less of experience, look at the salary that correspond to your years of experience in the chart below. Compare this number to the salary obtained in step 1, choose whichever number is greater.

The new top of scale for grade 11 will be $81,650 (4% increase). If your new salary is greater than $81,650, your new salary will be $81,650 and you will receive the difference as a bonus on December 1, 2003.
It is very important to verify that your department has the correct number of years of experience, particularly if you have had other employers beside UIHC. If you have questions about your years of experience, ask your administrator.
Example
PA with 5 years of experience as of July 1, 2003. Current salary: $60,500
Step 1: $60,500 + 4% = $62,920
Step 2: $62,000 (is less than step 1)
Step 3: $62,920 + $400 = $63,320
New salary is $63,320

In July of 2004, PAs and ARNPs will receive a 2% across the board raise and a $2,000 increase to their base salary ( which is approximately a 2.5% to 3.5% increase). The $2,000 will be prorated for part-time
